About VICYA

Victory Youth Association (VICYA) is a humanitarian development organization without religious, political or government affiliation.

Since its establishment in 1991, VICYA has been dedicated to improving the lives of the poorest and most oppressed members of the dalit and tribal communities and others who live below the poverty line in the state of Tamil Nadu, South India.

VICYA strives to halt the destructive cycle of village poverty through innovative programs that promote education, greater economic self-sufficiency, improved access to health care, and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. Recognizing that the social and economic elevation of poor communities is largely contingent upon the improved status of female members, many of VICYA's programs address the unique needs of rural women and girls.

Legel Status

VICYA is registered under Tamil Nadu state societies registration act 27 of 1975. Our registered number is 16 / 1991. We are also registered with the Home Ministry under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). We have income tax exemption u/s 80-G.

Future Directions

We at VICYA plan to continue to strive for the economic empowerment, health and well-being of the rural communities in Tamil Nadu through our various educational, skills training, and health-care initiatives. As we grow we hope to extend our services to still more remote villages. With more funding we could own and operate an ambulance, for example, that would expedite the transport of rural patients, including pregnant women and newborns, to hospitals and clinics, saving precious lives. We also plan to expand our services to include, geriatric care, mental health care in order to target such community issues as substance abuse, domestic violence and depression. We hope to continue to develop programming to address the unique needs of those affected by HIV/AIDS, including self-help groups to empower victims to fight job discrimination and special services for surviving children. Our survival and growth depends on the indefatigable efforts of our community volunteers, the ongoing support of partnering organizations, and the generous donations of concerned citizens like you.
